Neighbours' Day is a moment of conviviality to get to know your neighbours.
For a first in Port La Galère, I propose you to meet us at the ball court, the multi-sports garden next to the Summer Club.
Tip No. 1 – Tell your neighbors !
Don't prepare the party alone in your corner. The best way to bring people to Neighbours' Day is to talk about it around you and involve your neighbours in the preparation.. The more you will be preparing the party, The more word-of-mouth will work. Divide up tasks, Share projects, Discuss. This preparation in common is already a bit of a party !
Conseil N° 2 – Take care of advertising !
Pick up posters in your town hall (if it is a partner of Immeubles en fête) or on our website to place them in the lobby of your building, on entrance doors and in elevators. Download leaflets and invitations from our website that you can personalize (date, Time and place of the aperitif).
Tip No. 3 – Find the right place
Plan to hold the party in the common areas of the building (courtyard, entrance, hall, porch, garden...) rather than in a resident's apartment. It will be less intimidating for people who don't know many people in the building..
If you have no available space in the building, It is possible to do this on the sidewalk or on the street : Beware of security issues and... Neighborhood. Consider providing fallback solutions in case of bad weather.
Tip No. 4 –Installation
Think about the equipment to install a buffet (Trestles and planks, tables) but also to seats, especially for the elderly
Tip No. 5 – Anti-waste gestures
Food waste is particularly high at convivial events organised collectively (Picnics, Appetizers, etc.). However, many simple and effective solutions would reduce this waste:
1/ Designate a referent who organizes and distributes what everyone must bring;
2/ Do not bring more than we are able to eat : we come to two, we bring for two;
3/ Bring or make available tupperware to be able to take away any leftovers
Tip No. 6 – Don't forget the children !
Kids are always good audience for parties. Don't forget them in the organization : adapted food, soft drink, sweets, Balloons, etc.
Tip No. 7 – Do not hesitate to get to know each other
The day of the party, Don't stay in your corner. The goal is to get to know your neighbours better, So take the first step and introduce yourself. The shy will thank you.
If your building or residence is very large, Imagine labels to indicate everyone's name.
Tip No. 8 – Sort your packaging
For a celebration of solidarity but also citizen, Remember to sort your packaging during your Neighbours' Day. Plastic bottles and cubitainers, Soda cans, fruit juice carton, Cardboard packaging,... are to be put in the sorting bin, just like bottles, Glass jars and jars are to be placed in the glass tray!
Check with your town hall or community to retrieve the sorting instructions for your city.
Tip No. 9 – Take care of the atmosphere
Also think about the decoration (Garlands, Flowers, plants) and music. But be careful not to bother neighbors who would not participate in the party. This is not the day to get angry with those around you !
Tip No. 10 – This is just the beginning !
Neighbours' Day is a start, A first step to live better in your daily environment. Let it be an opportunity to start joint projects, to break with anonymity and isolation.
